Young Mercy Network

Young Mercy Network

Founded as a collaborative initiative of the Sisters of Mercy Parramatta and North Sydney, Young Mercy Network is a Sydney-based group of young women (aged 18–35) who have attended Mercy schools or wish to be associated with the Mercy tradition of the Sisters of Mercy.

Our Mission Statement

Venerable Catherine McAuley, the Founder of the Sisters of Mercy, recognised the talents of young women who, with their enthusiasm and abilities, could create a more just and compassionate society.

Young Mercy Network aims to give life to Catherine’s recognition and live out the mission of Mercy in this 21st century in practical and creative ways, working in collaboration with and through local, national and international communities.

Our Membership

Whilst we draw our membership mainly from the following Mercy High Schools of Sydney (Mercy 5)

  • Catherine McAuley College Westmead
  • Mercy College Chatswood
  • Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College North Sydney
  • Our Lady of Mercy College Parramatta
  • Our Lady of Mercy College Burraneer

We also invite all young adults that receive, hold and give mercy in their lives. It is a dynamic, social and enthusiastic group of young adults who share a common interest in being more informed on social justice issues and taking action.

Past members of the group have been involved in a number of initiatives including an immersion to Peru, fundraisers for Mercy Works, annual national gatherings and local social justice initiatives.

When We Meet

We meet every second month where we work to continue our connection with the Mercy vision — or be introduced to it — and plan fundraising and advocacy activities, as well as organise our participation in volunteering projects. In 2016 we will trial themed meetings where we choose to focus on a particular area of concern to us in relation to Social Justice.

Our Meeting Dates for 2017

To be advised.
