On Saturday, 28 September, the Sisters of Mercy North Sydney hosted the Sisters of Mercy from Parramatta and the Institute of Australia and Papua New Guinea for a Mercy Day celebration. On this occasion, Catherine McAuley's birthday, 29 September, 1778, was also remembered.
Lucia Harper, a current Year 7 student at Monte Sant' Angelo Mercy College, is a proud descendant of Sister Madeleine Blazer RSM, a former Monte boarder in the 1920's and renowned Music teacher at the College. Sister Madeleine, together with Sister M Imelda RSM, played a significant role in the development of Monte Music Academy, sharing her musical knowledge and appreciation of music with her students.
Whenever we fail to care for our brothers and sisters in creation, the way is opened to destruction, and hearts are hardened... Lord, grant that all who have positions of responsibility in economic, political and social life, and all men and women of goodwill - grant that we all be ‘protectors’ of creation, protectors of God’s plan inscribed in nature, protectors of one another and of the environment.
